Agoda Spotlights Asia's Pickleball Getaways, With Penang's Gurney Drive on the List

Pickleball is now shaping how people travel around Asia, and online travel platform Agoda has picked six destinations across the region where players can book a court easily, count on decent weather and still find plenty to do once the last rally is over. The list reflects how the sport's easy learning curve and social nature have made it a favourite with groups of friends and families who now build entire holidays around it.

Malaysia makes the cut with George Town, Penang. Agoda points to Pickle By The Sea on Gurney Drive, where the courts sit right on the waterfront so every match comes with a sea breeze and a view. The venue is already part of the professional scene, having hosted the APP Asia Penang Open, and the guide suggests timing a visit around Lunar New Year, when the heritage streets of George Town are lit up with lanterns.

Elsewhere on the list is Inatori in Higashi-Izu, Japan, where Izu Resort Villa's newly opened complex is described as the country's largest pickleball facility, pairing morning doubles with cherry blossoms along the Kawazu River and an evening onsen soak. For Malaysian players, the feature is another sign that local venues are earning a place on the regional pickleball travel map.
