Indonesia Beat UAE to Reach Suhandinata Cup Semis, Set Up Malaysia Clash
Indonesia's juniors edged the UAE in a tense first game before cruising 55-31 to book a Suhandinata Cup semi-final against Malaysia.
Indonesia's junior squad reached the semi-finals of the 2026 Suhandinata Cup, the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships, after beating the United Arab Emirates 2-0 at the Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday. The win sets up a Southeast Asian semi-final against Malaysia on Friday.
The first game was far closer than expected. Indonesia led throughout the relay, but the UAE fought back hard in the final men's doubles leg, and Raihan D. Edsel Pramono and Anju Siahaan only just held on for a 55-54 finish.
The second game was one-way traffic. Atresia Naufa Candani and Yasinta Ristyna Putri again opened strongly, Fardhan Rainanda Joe and Jolin Angelia stretched the lead in the singles, and Moses A. Simanjuntak and Reya Azzahra Yulianti kept control before the men's doubles closed it out 55-31.
