World Juniors: Redzuan Carries Coach Pang Cheh Chang's Advice as Malaysia Beat Slovenia
With coach Pang Cheh Chang recovering at home, Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal kept his advice in mind as Malaysia opened the World Junior team event with a 2-0 win.

Malaysia began their BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships campaign in Cairo with a 2-0 win over Slovenia on Monday, 5 October, and Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal said coach Pang Cheh Chang was very much on his mind. The 52-year-old coach stayed home to recover after nearly collapsing while with the team at the national Under-18 championships in Alor Setar three weeks earlier.
Redzuan, who arrived as Asian junior mixed doubles champion with Low Zi Yu, said the coach's advice was still fresh. "I will remember his message to me and do what he told me," he said, adding that he had not even looked at the draw so he could stay calm and take each match as it came.
On court, Malaysia were never in trouble. Kong Wei Xiang, Carine Tee, Redzuan with Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim, and Genevie Lim with Zi Yu built a steady lead before Redzuan and Zi Yu closed the first game 55-27. The second game was even more one-sided, with Irfan Shazmir and Genevie finishing it 55-2 in the mixed doubles.
