Malaysia Reach World Junior Mixed Team Final for First Time in Nine Years
Malaysia beat two-time champions Indonesia 2-0 in the semi-finals in Cairo to reach their first World Junior mixed team final since 2017.

Malaysia have booked a place in the mixed team final of the BWF World Junior Championships, their first appearance at that stage in nine years. In the semi-finals at Cairo International Stadium in Egypt, the young Malaysians beat two-time champions and defending runners-up Indonesia 2-0 in the relay-style team format.
It was far from straightforward. Boys' singles player Tiew Wei Jie dropped the opening rubber 6-11, but Genevie Lim and Low Zi Yu levelled with a 22-17 win in the girls' doubles. Indonesia edged ahead again when Jolin Angelia beat Carine Tee 33-32, yet Zi Yu returned in the mixed doubles with Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal to take a tight 44-43 result, and Damien Ling and Irfan Shazmir closed the first game with a 55-49 win in the men's doubles.
Malaysia then controlled the second game, with Tiew levelling his own score against Fardhan Rainanda and the girls' and mixed pairings adding further wins. Their last mixed team final at this level was the 2017 edition in Yogyakarta, and in Cairo they were set to meet either China or Thailand for the title.
