All-Malaysian French Open Final: Man-Tee Meet Sze Fei-Izzuddin as 22-Year Drought Ends

Malaysia is assured of the French Open men's doubles crown for the first time in 22 years after two of its pairs won their semi-finals at the Grand Arena Paris on Saturday, 24 October. Independent pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani came through a tense opening game to beat Indonesia's Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin 22-20, 21-9, while national pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun dispatched Indonesia's Raymond Indra-Nikolaus Joaquin 21-16, 21-15 without dropping a game.

The last Malaysian winners in Paris were Gan Teik Chai-Koo Kien Keat back in 2004. Sunday's final looks finely balanced: Sze Fei-Izzuddin have won two of their three previous meetings (at the 2022 German Open and 2024 China Open), but Wei Chong-Kai Wun took the most recent one on their way to the 2025 Malaysia Masters title.

The run is a quick turnaround for Wei Chong-Kai Wun, who went out in the first round of the Denmark Open only a week earlier. Wei Chong praised his partner for covering the court while he continues to manage a knee injury that he says is improving but not yet fully healed.
