Sarah Jane Lim is the top-ranked female pickleball player in the Philippines and was recently drafted into Major League Pickleball (MLP) Australia. She says her biggest motivation is her daughter, Piper, not the sport.
Lim moved from tennis to pickleball in 2023. She credits her rapid rise to focusing on helping the people around her improve rather than only trying to beat them. She also stresses that self-care matters for athletes who are parents.
Her advice to young players is not to tie their identity to results, and to focus on personal growth and kindness on and off the court. Her MLP Australia selection is another sign that Southeast Asian players are moving into the pro leagues now expanding across the Asia-Pacific.
