Miri launches free community workshops to grow pickleball
IACPP will launch a free Grow Pickleball Miri workshop series on November 7 to connect coaches, players and venue operators in Sarawak.

A new community programme in Miri, Sarawak, aims to turn the city's growing interest in pickleball into a lasting local sporting ecosystem. The International Academy of Certified Pickleball Professionals (IACPP) will kick off its Grow Pickleball Miri Community Workshop Series on November 7, bringing together community members, students, certified coaches and venue operators. The effort is backed by Sarawak's Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and the state's pickleball associations.
The first session takes place at Pika!ball Sentral in Taman Tunku, Miri, and is free to join. Registration is open at iacpp.com/free-workshop until October 31. IACPP says more than 80 people have completed its Level 1 Coaching programme, and founder Farrell Choo says the series is meant to connect those coaches with new players and venue operators so the sport grows as one ecosystem.
The organisers hope more players will create demand for coaching, courts and equipment, though they stress that these economic benefits are goals rather than measured results so far. If the Miri series works, IACPP wants to extend the model to other divisions in Sarawak and to other Malaysian states.
