Malaysia's small business community is picking up paddles this month. The Shine Bright SME Pickleball Tournament 2026 will be held in Shah Alam, Selangor, on 11 October, with around 200 players expected to compete across men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. The event is organised jointly by the Women Entrepreneurs Bureau and the Young Entrepreneurs Bureau of the SME Association of Malaysia, the first time the two bureaus have teamed up on a Shine Bright edition.

This second edition follows last year's Shine Bright 1.0, a 5km fun run at KL Tower that drew more than 3,000 participants. Women Entrepreneurs Bureau national vice-president Datuk Miccele Siow said the tournament is meant to help business owners, teams and families network while staying active, built around the idea that a healthy lifestyle goes hand in hand with a strong business.

Young Entrepreneurs Bureau national council member Teh Gaik Cheong said pickleball mirrors much of what entrepreneurship demands, from teamwork and adaptability to continuous learning. SME Association of Malaysia national president Dr Chin Chee Seong described the initiative as part of the association's wider push to build a connected SME community, another sign of how quickly pickleball is being adopted by Malaysian corporate and community groups.
