World No. 3 junior pair Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal and Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim want to put Malaysia's boys' doubles back on the podium in Cairo.

Malaysia's Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal and Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim, ranked third in the world in junior boys' doubles, headed to Cairo determined to bring home a medal from the 2026 BWF World Junior Championships. The pair said they would aim for the title but did not want to weigh themselves down by obsessing over it. "For now, our first target is to bring home a medal," Redzuan said.

A podium finish would return Malaysia's boys' doubles to the medal list after missing out at last year's edition in Guwahati. Malaysia won the title in Nanchang the year before through Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing, and Aaron also took bronze with Bryan Jeremy Goonting in Spokane in 2024. Cairo is also a chance for Redzuan and Isyraf to bounce back from a third-round exit at the Asian Junior Championships in Yatsushiro, Japan, in July, where they were second seeds.

National junior doubles coach Hazwan Jamaluddin believes the squad is better prepared than before the Asian Juniors, helped by changes to some partnerships and sparring sessions with senior players. The pair were among 30 players and officials who travelled to Cairo, where the team event is played first under a revised relay scoring format.
